A New Chapter — Joining Uncork

We all remember the people who give us our first shot. The ones who believed in us when no one else did and it changed the trajectory of our life. For my dad, an immigrant from China with a limited education, that was someone named David in the 80’s. David owned a grocery business, taught my dad the trade, and mentored him over the years. Eventually, my dad was promoted and he took over the small business years later. Today my dad is living his entrepreneurial dream.

My dad’s story has always inspired me. I feel privileged to be in a new role where I have the chance to be an early believer and give others their first shot. I’m overjoyed to announce that I’m joining Uncork Capital as an investing partner.

While doing my research on Uncork, I was blown away by the positive reaction I got from both investors and entrepreneurs. Not only is Uncork known as one of the best seed-stage funds, but Jeff and Andy have a reputation of being good human beings. They treat everyone with kindness, candor and respect, which seems to be a big secret of their success. Founders told me they are trusted advisors and valuable sounding boards when they face tough decisions, and that they stay committed from beginning to end. I’m excited to partner with the two of them.

At Uncork, I’ll continue to focus on the sector I’ve always been passionate about: B2B software. I also plan to explore a few new areas (I’m open to ideas!). Within B2B software, I’m most interested in cloud companies with a product-led growth business model; platforms that can automate tedious, repetitive, error-prone tasks; and companies that power the rise of remote work. In a nutshell: companies that are redefining the future of work.
