Automating Healthcare’s $26B Problem: Why We Invested in Amperos Health

I’ve been fascinated by voice AI for a while now. What excites me most isn’t just the underlying tech, it’s the way voice is being used to automate/reinvent workflows in specific markets. Some of the most compelling applications I’ve seen are vertical: instead of trying to build a general-purpose product, these startups deeply understand a particular domain — whether that’s healthcare, logistics, or field service — and tailor their product to solve real pain points within a specific industry. With this in mind, when I came across Amperos Health at Neo’s demo day, I was immediately intrigued.
Denials and collections within healthcare represent a sneakily large market — providers spend $26 billion annually pursuing unpaid claims. The current, state-of-the-art, approach relies heavily on human billers. As you can imagine, this is both expensive and hard to scale. This industry is in need of automation, which is where Amperos Health comes in.
Amperos Health recently launched Amanda, a multimodal AI biller, to solve this problem. Trained by experienced billing professionals and easy to set up, Amanda handles the full follow-up collections process — making calls to payers, navigating insurance websites, and determining the fastest path to reverse denials and collect payment.
The results are impressive: Amanda has already completed over 75,000 automated calls and helped customers collect $120 million in outstanding revenue. This isn’t experimental AI — it’s working in production, delivering measurable financial outcomes for healthcare providers.
In addition, the Amperos Health founding team brings together exactly the right combination of skills for this challenge. CEO Michal Miernowski brings fintech and healthcare expertise, including from Goldman Sachs, Onex, and Ardea Partners, partnering with healthcare operators across the US. CPO Alvin Wu brings product knowledge from working with successful tech companies such as Fitbit and Samsara. CTO Wilson Wang combines deep engineering experience from Amazon with recent AI company-building experience.
Healthcare denials and collections is exactly the kind of large, inefficient market where AI can unlock massive value. Amperos Health is showing real traction early and is positioned to reshape how clinics collect revenue — faster, cheaper, and more effectively than ever before.
We’re excited to announce we led the seed round for Amperos Health, a company using AI to streamline one of healthcare’s most frustrating operational challenges.
