Joyce builds the financial backbone that lets great partnerships thrive. She leads finance for all of Uncork’s fund operations – valuations, portfolio reviews, LP reporting, firm-wide budgets, strategic planning, and fund formation with tireless follow-through. She believes meticulous attention to detail is essential, but the real impact comes from a clear view of the broader strategy.
Before joining Uncork in 2022, Joyce spent 14 years at Sierra Ventures, where she advanced through several finance roles and ultimately served as VP of Finance. During her time there, she led financial reporting, accounting, LP communications, and regulatory compliance. She began her career at Ernst & Young auditing technology and biotech companies, honing the precision and curiosity that continue to define her approach today.
Joyce’s story is rooted in the Bay Area, where she’s lived since immigrating from Taiwan at age six. Inspired by her father, an engineer, she grew up with a deep respect for focus and persistence. Those same qualities shaped her as she navigated a career in venture while raising two young sons – especially during the pandemic, when multitasking became a superpower.
Joyce holds a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and a Bachelor’s in Business Economics from UCLA.
Outside of Uncork, Joyce is happiest when the game is on (she’s a diehard Warriors season ticket holder and loyal 49ers and Giants fan), a crossword puzzle is nearly finished, or a great bowl of ramen is in front of her. And if there’s an action movie marathon queued up, even better.
